Dominiek Vandewiele, project manager from Intercommunale Leiedal in Belgium, met up with the new Flemish Minister of Energy Bart Tommelein and briefly presented the aim and scope of the REFURB project. Political focus on the great potential of extensive energy renovation of the existing building stock is a key factor to raising public awareness. The Minister stressed the importance of deep energy renovation of dwellings. He will continue the work of his predecessor to create of an “Renovation Pact” in Flanders to better connect supply side and demand side. He acknowledged the importance to unburden homeowners in their renovation process, as a driver to generate more renovations. The Refurb partners continuously inform politicians of the project throughout the 6 participating countries.
